I had visited so many different facilities for months never being satisfied or confident of leaving my love one. From the moment you walk into this beautiful home and are greeted by Katy and Dio you feel the warmth and love. They are both are the ultimate professional and, as such, demand the same for their caregivers. How can I describe West Dade Family Care “perfection”. Each and every patient is treated with the utmost respect and love from each and every person they come in contact with. My family and I are blessed to have found West Dade Family Care. We are truly grateful.

I am so thankful to have found this place for my mom. The decision to place my mom in an ALF was inevitable, but doing my homework to choose the perfect place was a key element to make my decision. I visited several ALFs and West Dade Family Care was my last stop. Once I knew this was my mom’s “new home”, it was time to bring other family members for their opinion and the moment they walked in, they all felt exactly how I felt that first time I walked in. That was my confirmation that I had done a good job to give my mom the best place she could have. This house is literally “her home away from home” and as her daughter I feel at peace with the place I chose for her. I couldn’t ask for a better place and those who take care of her there, from the employees to the owner. We have been blessed after all!

My best friend used to talk to me all the time about the assisted living facility where he had his mother. He would tell me,” When you need a home for one of your family members, this is the place for them to go.” He was 100% correct! When my wife and I visited the West Dade Family Care we were extremely impressed with the way Katy and Dio ran the home. We felt like walking into our own house. We were treated like family. The love and caring for each of their patients is to be commended! The cleanliness, the delicious homemade food, the warm, loving, cozy feeling of your own home is what they give to their patients on a daily basis. I immediately realized what my best friend was talking about. Each patient here is treated like if they were their own family members. My wife and I agreed that this is the place to have a family member live. We are truly blessed that Aunt Hilda is staying at the West Dade Family Care. Thank you Dio and Katy for all your love and dedication to our loved ones!

My Prayers have been answered, I was scared of living by myself, but now I live in an Assisted Living Facility where I feel safe and protected they treat me with respect and kindness. This facility is very clean and well organized; the food is well prepared and very delicious.

My mother has been living at the West Dade Family Care Assisted Living Facility since 2011 and most of her family does not live in Miami.

On behalf of the family, we can say with certainty that this facility has been a blessing for my mother. The quality of care has been extremely impressive. The facility is not only extremely well equipped but is very clean. The homemade food is of the highest standards not only from a culinary standpoint but also from a health perspective. Katy, Dio and the staff are very friendly and professional.

Because of the overall high quality of care, I would recommend this facility to anyone. I would say it would be extremely difficult to find another one of this caliber.

Back around September 2008, my Mother was in the hospital after suffering a heart attack. She was in bad shape and I was told that she probably would not survive. She was in ICU for over a month. She beat the odds and survived by the grace of God.
I say that because at the time, she lived alone refused to have anyone live with her to help. I had just returned from a small weekend getaway with my family to find her on the living room floor caused by an apparent slip and fall where she laid there for approximately 3 days and suffered the heart attack from the stress of trying to get herself up. She was totally dehydrated and gasping for air. It was the worst day of my life.
While at the hospital, I was approached by her Case Manager and she took the time to explain to me that my Mom needed to be placed in an Assisted Living Facility. That if she were to go back to living alone, the next accident would probably be her last one. She went ahead and gave me a listing of all the facilities within the area. Needless to say the list looked more like a bible.
As a Cuban American, I was raised the “Old Fashioned Way” where you care for your loved ones and never put them in a home! And although the thought of it made me feel guilty, part of me also knew that I had no way of taking care of her 100% alone by myself at this point. I had no choice but to consider placing her in an ALF.
I proceeded to take 1 week off from work and during that time visited 32 ALF’s. And I will admit that some of the ones I visited were decent but they were at full capacity and had extensive waiting lists. Others were very depressing and downright not well maintained at all. There was one in particular that as soon as I drove up and got out of my car, I could smell it was not clean inside and of course I immediately drove away. This was extremely discouraging and just made me feel even guiltier at the thought that I was even considering doing something I was raised against.
I decided to visit one more. #32 on my list. West Dade Family Care. As I drove to the address, I prayed to God and asked him to help me make the right decision. As I pulled into the driveway, I looked at the area and the house and automatically assumed that I had the wrong address. But I knocked on the door anyways. I was greeted by Katy Gutierrez, one of the Owners/Administrators. She immediately invited me in and gave me a tour of the facility. I was truly amazed how beautiful, organized and clean everything was. She explained to me that they (her and her husband) had just opened up the facility in order to care for one of their own elderly loved ones. I believe it was her husband’s Aunt if I am not mistaken. They too had seen what was out there. “The good, the bad and the ugly”. And they wanted better for her and at the same time wanted to offer the best possible facility to other individuals like myself seeking the same for my loved one. I was in total awe.
Later that evening I met with Katy’s husband Diosdado Gutierrez. We spoke about my Mom and what her needs were. He assured me that they would give her the best care and would do so as if she was family. We made arrangements for us to meet at the hospital for an assessment to ensure they could definitely meet her needs.

On November 12th, 2008 I decided my prayer was answered that day I drove up to West Dade Family Care. I had absolutely no qualms and placed my Mom in the care of the Gutierrez’s and it was the best decision I had ever made.
For the next 3 years, they and their staff treated my Mother with respect, dignity and made sure she always looked her best. Even when she wasn’t at her best. They would always celebrate her birthdays with a cake surrounded by the other patients and her new extended family. The holidays were also a very special time. And of course there were some sad times and they would always call me immediately if she wasn’t doing well. And would meet me at the hospital. I can never repay them for all they did for me and my Mom. They are and always will be a part of my family.
I truly hope whoever reads this can get a sense of what I had to go through and how West Dade Family Care and the Gutierrez’s were my savior when I needed it. Placing my loved one in their care was the best decision I have ever made and if you give them the opportunity, you will feel the same.
